Victorian stained glass became an integral part of the design of the family home. These geometric designs are based on basic geometric shapes of circles, squares and triangles – often surrounded by a single or double boarder. The outer boarder being clear and the inner boarder usually ruby red, or occasionally blue.

Other colours commonly used within the designs were 4 pale shades of blue, yellow, pink and green. The strong geometric shapes were softened by hand painted segments, usually birds, flowers, or other elements of nature
